Netflix Subscribers Have Just Hours Left To Watch 2024’s Final Destination Knockoff

The 2000 film Final Destination changed the horror genre by focusing not on a killer, but on the unavoidable force of Death itself. Many films have tried to copy this scary idea since then, with mixed results. Now, a movie that tried to revive the formula during the Final Destination franchise’s 14-year hiatus – just a year before Final Destination Bloodlines became a big hit in 2025 – is leaving Netflix.

If you’re a Netflix subscriber and enjoy horror, you don’t have much time left to watch Tarot. This 2024 film from Spenser Cohen and Anna Halberg blends the suspense of Final Destination with a supernatural twist. It follows a group of college friends who accidentally unleash a dangerous evil hidden in a cursed deck of tarot cards, putting them in a desperate fight for survival. Tarot has been available on Netflix since last year, but it will be removed on February 1st.

Tarot Couldn’t Live Up To Final Destination

Despite earning $49 million worldwide on an $8 million budget – making it financially successful – the movie Tarot didn’t quite live up to expectations, especially since it tried to emulate the Final Destination series. Critics disliked it, giving it a low 17% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. While audiences were more positive with a 56% score, that still isn’t considered a good rating.

Many horror movies have tried to copy the formula of the Final Destination series, but Tarot didn’t quite succeed. It felt like a watered-down version, lacking the originality and suspense that made Final Destination so effective, and it stuck too closely to a predictable pattern. Even though these kinds of movies can be scary, Tarot didn’t deliver, likely because its PG-13 rating held back its potential for truly frightening moments. Add in uninteresting characters, a confusing plot, and an overabundance of cheap jump scares and tired horror clichés, and it’s no surprise the film received negative reviews.

However, that doesn’t mean Tarot isn’t enjoyable. If you’re a fan of the Final Destination series, you’ll likely have fun with it as a light, easy watch. Plus, the movie features some really creative monster designs.

Where to Stream Tarot After It Leaves Netflix?

If you’re a horror movie fan, don’t wait to stream Tarot! It’s currently only available on Netflix, and it will be removed on February 1st. While it might appear on another streaming service later, you’ll still be able to rent or buy it online if you miss it.
