Netflix has a new top show in town.
Netflix has started 2026 strong, with shows like His & Hers – which premiered in January and quickly became one of their most-watched series ever. Thrillers have been particularly successful for the streaming service recently. Now, after a three-year break, a popular thriller series is back, continuing Netflix’s streak of hits this year.
As of today, Beef is the most popular TV show on Netflix in the United States. The first season of this thriller series premiered on April 6, 2023, and season 2 is scheduled to arrive on April 16, 2026. Beef quickly gained popularity, rising from 10th to 5th place, and ultimately reaching the number one spot on April 19th, where it has remained.
The show Beef is currently more popular than other series like Trust Me: The False Prophet, Big Mistakes, Temptation Island, and Love on the Spectrum across the country. All eight episodes of Beef‘s second season are now streaming on Netflix, and the thriller is also gaining popularity in many countries around the world.
The Netflix thriller series Beef is currently a hit in 40 countries, a significant accomplishment. After the release of its second season, it has also climbed into Netflix’s Top 10 worldwide, becoming the 9th most-watched show on the platform. This pushes the reality series Million Dollar Secret down to 10th place on the global chart.
Netflix’s global charts are currently led by shows like WWE Wrestlemania, Ronaldinho: The One and Only, The Staircase, and the hit series Beef. Beef is proving popular worldwide, reaching the top spot in Lithuania, number 3 in the United Kingdom, number 4 in Australia, number 9 in South Korea, and many other countries. The show’s success is likely due to the positive reception of its second season.
The second season of Beef has received positive reviews, earning an 86% score on Rotten Tomatoes. In a review for ScreenRant, critic Graeme Guttman rated the season 7 out of 10, praising its continued “electric unpredictability.” Beef is an anthology series, meaning each season features a completely new story with different characters and a different setting.
As a huge fan of the show, I was completely hooked by the first season of Beef. It all kicks off when Danny Cho, played brilliantly by Steven Yeun, and Ali Wong’s Amy Lau get into a nasty road rage incident that spirals out of control. Then, in season two, things get even more complicated with Oscar Isaac and Carey Mulligan as Josh and Lindsay, who find themselves blackmailed by a younger couple – Ashley, played by Cailee Spaeny, and Austin, played by Charles Melton – after a really heated fight. Honestly, everyone’s on the edge of their seats waiting to see if Beef will get a third season!
