Netflix Users Have Just 48 Hours Left To Watch Starz’s Three-Season Crime Drama

Netflix offers a wide range of entertainment, not just its own original content. From the beginning, it’s consistently had success with popular shows and movies from other networks and studios. While Netflix plans to add even more licensed content in the coming years, it will soon remove a popular show from Starz, giving viewers just under two days to finish watching all three seasons.

The crime drama Hightown will be leaving Netflix on January 23rd, less than six months after becoming popular on the platform’s Top 10 list last July. Created by Rebecca Cutter (known for The Hunting Wives), the show stars Monica Raymund as Jackie Quiñones, a marine fisheries agent whose life changes when she gets involved in a murder case. There’s only a short time left for Netflix users to watch all 25 episodes of the three-season Starz series.

Hightown Is a Gripping Crime Drama That Deserved More Seasons

If you’re thinking about starting Hightown on Netflix, you’ll likely wish it had more than just three seasons. This crime drama, which originally aired on Starz from 2020 to 2024, was known for its compelling stories and complex mysteries. Unfortunately, Starz cancelled the show in late 2023, shortly before the release of Season 3, meaning that season ultimately served as the series finale.

During its three seasons, Hightown was known for its realistic and unflinching look at the opioid crisis on Cape Cod. The show featured complex, flawed characters and tackled difficult subjects without shying away from the harsh realities. It was also well-paced, combining crime, suspense, and in-depth character development to keep audiences engaged. This translated to strong viewership, with Hightown consistently receiving positive ratings. Over its run, the show earned a 67% average score on Rotten Tomatoes’ Popcornmeter, peaking at 75% in its final season. Season 1 was particularly well-received by critics, earning an 80% “Certified Fresh” rating, and subsequent seasons maintained positive, though more limited, critical feedback.

Where to Stream Hightown After It Leaves Netflix?

The show Hightown found a temporary home on Netflix after being cancelled by Starz and removed from their platform earlier in 2024. While it enjoyed a successful run on Netflix in July, that availability is ending soon. Unfortunately, Hightown doesn’t currently have another streaming home lined up, meaning it will likely disappear from streaming services again. While the three seasons might eventually appear on a different platform in February or later, for now, the only way to watch will be to rent or buy the episodes online.
