March is shaping up to be a fantastic month for Netflix viewers! In just over a week, they’ve added a ton of exciting movies and shows, like all three Jurassic World films, the classic movie Matilda, and the highly-rated new series The Dinosaurs from Steven Spielberg. However, while people are enjoying all the new content, Netflix will soon be losing access to a truly great movie.
You only have a week left to watch Titanic on Netflix! James Cameron’s famous love story, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet, is leaving the streaming service on March 16th. Though it was a huge gamble – the budget actually went over $200 million – Titanic became a groundbreaking success. It was the first movie to earn over a billion dollars worldwide, and has since made over $2.2 billion, making it one of the highest-grossing films ever. It also won 11 Academy Awards, tying the record for most wins.
Titanic Is Still a Masterpiece Nearly 30 Years Later
Even twenty-five years after its release, Titanic is still considered a classic film. As it approaches its 30th anniversary, the movie expertly combines a grand love story with the tragedy of a historical disaster. The romance between Jack and Rose is instantly recognizable and powerfully connects viewers to the dramatic events unfolding around them. The film’s depiction of the disaster remains impressive, thanks to director James Cameron’s commitment to detail – from accurately recreating the ship to the realistic portrayal of the iceberg impact and sinking, using a combination of physical sets, models, and computer effects.
As a huge movie fan, I truly believe Titanic is a masterpiece. It really redefined what big-budget romantic disaster films could be, and it became a total cultural moment. I mean, who doesn’t recognize the Heart of the Ocean necklace or remember Jack yelling, “I’m king of the world!”? Even the music, especially Celine Dion’s “My Heart Will Go On,” is instantly recognizable. And let’s be real, people are still arguing about whether Jack could have fit on that door with Rose! It’s got an 88% rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, which is great, but surprisingly, audiences only give it a 66% – it’s interesting to see that difference.
Where to Stream Titanic After It Leaves Netflix?
While Titanic is leaving Netflix, you’ll still be able to watch it online. It’s currently available on Paramount+, Starz, and Pluto TV, and you can also rent or buy it digitally. Although it wasn’t announced in any major streaming service updates for March, Titanic might appear on another platform later on.
