Netflix Users Have Just Days Left To Watch One of the Most Underrated Video Game Series

I can’t believe Netflix is already looking ahead to February! They’re adding so many new movies and shows on the 1st – everything from the original Night at the Museum movies to Lee Daniels’ The Butler. But sadly, a few things are leaving, and I’m really bummed about one in particular. They’re taking down all 104 episodes of a show that I always thought was amazing – a truly underrated adaptation of a video game, and a real cult classic!

Despite being connected to some poorly received Sonic the Hedgehog games, the Sonic Boom series has quietly become a fan favorite. This animated comedy, which originally aired on Cartoon Network and Boomerang from 2014 to 2017 for two seasons and 104 episodes, follows Sonic and his friends as they work to defeat the villainous Dr. Eggman. After being removed from streaming services internationally, Sonic Boom will leave Netflix in the U.S. on January 31st.

Sonic Boom Is One of the Best Entries in the Sonic the Hedgehog Animated Universe

Originally a Sega video game in the early 1990s, Sonic the Hedgehog has grown into a huge franchise with movies, TV shows, comics, and plenty of merchandise. Among these adaptations, Sonic Boom stands out as one of the best. The show earned a solid 78% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes over its two seasons, with viewers praising it as enjoyable for everyone and even calling it the “best show of all time.” Many fans are now hoping for a revival of the series.

Even though it started with the poorly received Sonic Boom video games – including the failed Rise of Lyric – the Sonic Boom TV show surprisingly became a fan favorite. Many fans and critics now consider it one of the best Sonic cartoons ever made. Unlike previous Sonic shows that focused on intense action, Sonic Boom adopted a sitcom style with clever, self-aware humor that often commented on the Sonic universe itself. This fresh approach, combined with witty writing, characters who playfully poked fun at the franchise, and strong character interactions, resonated with viewers and made the show a huge success.

Where to Stream Sonic Boom After It Leaves Netflix?

Many fans love Sonic Boom, so they’re wondering where to watch it now that it’s leaving Netflix. Luckily, Netflix isn’t the only place to stream the show! You can currently find it for free on platforms like Tubi, Pluto TV, and The Roku Channel. You can also rent or buy episodes online. Plus, Sonic Boom might become available on another major streaming service soon.

Good news for Sonic fans on Netflix! The original series Sonic Prime will remain available on the platform – Netflix has the rights to it until 2034.
