Alice in Borderland Season 3 concludes with a thrilling final game, and the actors have shared insights into how they made the series a reality. Alice in Borderland stands out as a particularly captivating franchise, becoming the first Japanese-language show to receive a third season on Netflix – a testament to how deeply this season explores the conclusion of Arisu and Usagi’s journey. This is particularly evident in the way the series dramatically increases the tension and challenges for the ultimate game to escape the Borderland.
Alice in Borderland features Kento Yamazaki (playing Arisu) and Tao Tsuchiya (playing Usagi). They recently discussed the third season in a roundtable discussion-ComicBook was present-and revealed details about the season’s final, challenging game. The game was physically demanding due to fast-moving water, but it was also a deeply emotional experience for Arisu as he made a crucial decision about his future. The actors emphasized both the physical and emotional aspects of this final challenge.
Alice in Borderland Stars on Filming Season 3’s Final Game
“I did everything I could to stay afloat,” Yamazaki said, recalling the fast-moving whirlpool in Alice in Borderland‘s last game of the season. While Arisu and Usagi appeared to be struggling against a deadly whirlpool on screen, Tsuchiya explained that the scene was carefully managed by a large team of professionals to ensure their safety. “Definitely. It was our largest set. It looked like a gym from the outside, but it contained a pool, and a lot of people were involved.”
Tsuchiya explained that different teams handled various water effects – waves, splashes, and the water current itself. The action team prioritized safety on set, ensuring everyone could film without, as he joked, ‘drowning.’ Yamazaki then shared some insight into Arisu’s state of mind during the final game, specifically when facing the enigmatic older man. He noted that Arisu remained resolute and confident in his ultimate decision.
How Arisu Felt During Alice in Borderland’s Final Game

Yamazaki started discussing Arisu’s mindset during the final game, explaining, “I believe he had absolutely no hesitation because he was certain about wanting to live.” He continued, “Naturally, when the characters return to reality, they forget everything that happened in Borderland. However, while *in* Borderland, they went through the pain of losing people they cared about – he lost his friends, Karube and Chota.” Yamazaki also shared that although the Borderland took much *from* Arisu, it also gave him a great deal *in* return.
According to Yamazaki, Arisu’s encounter with Usagi in Borderland led him to discover the purpose of his life. He ultimately realizes that life is worth living, even through difficult times, and this conviction remained strong throughout the series-even in scenes with the older men. If you’re curious about how Alice in Borderland Season 3 concluded, all three seasons are currently available to stream on Netflix.
