Netflix has given fans a first glimpse of season 2 of Avatar: The Last Airbender, including the first look at the live-action version of Toph and announcing when the new season will be released. Season 2 will cover the events of “Book Two: Earth” from the original animated show, and will feature the introduction of Toph, a young, blind Earthbending master who trains Aang.
Netflix has revealed a new poster for season 2 of Avatar: The Last Airbender, giving fans their first look at Miya Cech as Toph. The poster shows Toph standing with Aang, Katara, Sokka, and Momo, with Appa flying overhead. It hints at an “epic” continuation of the story and confirms the new season will arrive in 2026.
Check out the poster below:
The new season of the live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender will continue the story right after the first season’s finale. Aang, Katara, and Sokka will leave the Northern Water Tribe as Aang begins his Earthbending training. However, the show will still explore Aang’s waterbending skills, acknowledging his initial struggles with mastering that element.
Toph will continue to be a key character. Her guidance is essential for Aang to master Earthbending, which will remain a major focus of the new season. Aang will need to be as strong as possible, especially with the arrival of Sozen’s Comet fast approaching.
Toph practices earthbending in a special way – because she’s blind, she ‘sees’ using vibrations in the ground. This lets her expertly control earth and makes her a powerful fighter. She takes her abilities very seriously, which can make her seem rough around the edges when she first meets people.
As Toph joins Team Avatar, her sarcastic wit and close relationships with the others become apparent. The upcoming Netflix series could handle her character similarly to how it’s reimagining other aspects of the story – like the character of King Bumi – potentially mirroring elements from the original animated show.
Whether the live-action Toph lives up to the animated version, season 2 of Avatar: The Last Airbender looks like it will deliver a classic adventure and introduce a character fans have been waiting for. Now that the show is confirmed to return in 2026, we’ll soon see how Toph is brought to life on screen.
Netflix will release the second season of Avatar: The Last Airbender in 2026. The release date for the show’s third and final season hasn’t been announced yet.
