I’ve been watching the buzz around this anime – it’s become a real standout hit on Netflix! It originally started as a popular series in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine, and now it’s getting a live-action movie! Netflix has released a lot of great anime content lately, but this one really took off, and now we’re getting even more with this new adaptation. They’ve also just announced some new actors joining the cast, which is exciting to see.
Since its release last year, Sakamoto Days has become very popular on Netflix, and Season 2 is on its way. The series is expanding even further with a new live-action movie, set to premiere in Japan this spring. Recently, two new cast members – Lu and Heisuke – were revealed with special posters, giving fans a first look at their characters in live-action. You can see the posters below.
What to Know for Sakamoto Days’ Live-Action Movie

The live-action movie adaptation of Sakamoto Days is set to premiere in Japan on April 19th, though plans for releasing it in other countries haven’t been announced yet. Mayu Yokota will play Lu Shaotang, and Junki Tozuka will play Heisuke Mashimo. They join previously announced cast members Ren Meguro as Taro Sakamoto, Fumiya Takahashi as Shin Asakura, Aya Ueto as Aoi Sakamoto, and Miyu Yoshimoto as Hana Sakamoto.
Yuichi Fukuda is writing and directing the upcoming live-action film based on Sakamoto Days, with Keiya Tabuchi handling the action direction. The movie is coming together quickly after being announced last year, and is expected to be released in Japan this spring. Given the anime’s popularity around the world, fans are hoping the film will become available internationally soon after its Japanese debut.
What’s Next for Sakamoto Days?

The manga series Sakamoto Days is currently in its final story arc, with creator Yuto Suzuki planning to conclude it sometime in 2026. A second season of the anime has been confirmed, but a specific release date hasn’t been announced yet.
Good news for fans of Sakamoto Days: Season 2 will be available to stream on Netflix when it premieres! While we wait for a release date, there’s plenty more to be excited about – the manga is nearing its conclusion, a new anime season is in production, and a live-action movie is also planned. It’s a great time to be a fan of this popular series from Shonen Jump.
