When a limited series does really well, networks often decide to expand it, even if the original story was meant to be self-contained. Streaming services, in particular, are prone to greenlighting follow-ups based on popularity, not necessarily narrative need. These sequels can either continue the original story or become anthology series, like we’ve seen with shows such as Beef, The Watcher, Big Little Lies, and The White Lotus. Now, another successful limited series is getting the same treatment.
I was absolutely captivated by Adolescence when it came out in 2025! This four-part drama, about a teen arrested after a girl at his school was murdered, really dug deep into the truth of what happened and how it affected everyone involved. It became huge – the second most-watched English-language series on Netflix ever, racking up over 142 million views! So, I wasn’t surprised to hear it’s getting a second season. I was thrilled to learn that Stephen Graham, who was incredible in the show and just won a Golden Globe for his performance, confirmed it backstage at the awards. He mentioned, according to Deadline, that Season 2 is definitely happening!
I don’t have an answer for that right now. It’s a detail Jack and I both remember, but we’re not ready to share it for another three or four years. We’ll reveal it eventually, so keep watching for updates.
Is Adolescence Season 2 A Good Idea?

It’s not surprising that Netflix is considering a second season of Adolescence. The first season was a huge success, attracting a large audience and winning awards, plus it received excellent reviews. As one of Netflix’s most praised original series – particularly for its handling of important issues – another season would likely be a smart move if it could replicate even a portion of that success.
Look, while I loved Season 1, a simple continuation of the Miller family’s story just wouldn’t work – and I don’t think that’s the direction they’re heading in with Season 2. Honestly, their story felt complete, and trying to revisit it would feel forced and potentially ruin what made the first season so good. Could it technically be done well? Maybe. Will it happen? I highly doubt it.
The project will probably become an anthology series, much like Netflix’s Monster. Each season would focus on a different adolescent crime and explore the wider social and political issues surrounding it, all under the title Adolescence. While a continuation with the same characters in a new story is possible, an anthology format feels like the more likely path forward.
Adolescence is available to stream on Netflix.
