I’m completely hooked by this new series on Netflix, and it’s perfect timing for Halloween! It’s set in this beautiful, seemingly peaceful town called Tall Pines, Vermont, and follows a few different characters. There’s a new cop in town, and these two girls who just escaped from a school for troubled teens. Together, they start digging into the really dark secrets hidden beneath the surface of Tall Pines, and I can’t wait to see what they uncover!

The new Netflix series, *Wayward*, premiered on September 25th and quickly became the most popular show worldwide. Set in the town of Tall Pines, the story follows police officer Alex Dempsey and his wife as they arrive and discover everyone seems to be keeping secrets. When Alex meets two runaway students from the local academy, he starts looking into a string of strange events. His investigation leads him to Evelyn Ward, the unsettling headmistress of Tall Pines Academy, played by Toni Collette, who appears to have a powerful influence over the town. Though opinions are mixed – some find it confusing or slow-paced after the initial episodes – many viewers are captivated by its intriguing plot, thrilling atmosphere, and strong performances.

Could We Be Getting A Second Season?

Mae Martin’s series, *Wayward*, which stars Martin as Alex, was initially planned as a one-season show. However, due to strong viewer interest, Netflix is now thinking about renewing it for a second season. Martin mentioned in an interview with TVInsider that while they were told it would be a limited series, there’s still more of the story to explore, especially considering the cliffhangers left with each character. Toni Collette, who plays Evelyn Wade, also expressed excitement about the show’s potential, noting there are “so many places it could go.”

Martin shared with Tudum that she and her best friend went through a difficult time as teenagers in the early 2000s. When her friend was 16, she was sent to a troubled teen program and returned with shocking stories. While the show isn‘t a direct retelling of real events, it’s inspired by the harsh realities faced by teens labeled as ‘troubled,’ and Martin hopes it will raise awareness about these programs and the experiences of those who attend them.
