Just under a month after the release of Season 2 of Netflix’s One Piece, the show has been a huge hit with fans and critics. With the anime also back and continuing the story, excitement for the One Piece universe is still high. Now, Netflix has given fans something new to look forward to with an update about Season 3.
Many fans worried the wait for Season 3 would be long, considering the gap between Seasons 1 and 2. But with plans for potentially six or more seasons of One Piece and Season 3 production starting last November, it looks like the new season might arrive sooner than anticipated. This recent news seems to confirm that.
Netflix’s One Piece Drops A Major Season 3 Update
I just saw a new teaser for Season 3 of the live-action One Piece on Netflix’s X account. It showed the logo set in a desert landscape. They also revealed the official title: One Piece: The Battle of Alabasta. The biggest news, though, is that we can expect Season 3 to arrive in 2027!
The official synopsis for Season 3 of One Piece reads:
A major conflict is heading towards Monkey D. Luffy and his crew as they arrive in Alabasta, the kingdom of Princess Vivi. A dangerous rebellion is brewing, secretly orchestrated by the powerful pirate Sir Crocodile and his criminal organization, Baroque Works, who plan to take over the country. Amidst strong friendships and difficult decisions, the Straw Hats must stop a civil war and defeat a formidable warlord to save Vivi’s homeland from destruction.
The third season of One Piece will cover the Alabasta Arc, introducing new characters like Bon Clay (Cole Escola) and Ace (Xolo Maridueña). A major focus will be on Sir Crocodile (Joe Maganiello), who appeared briefly last season and will now have a much larger role.
One Piece’s Wit Remake Drops A New Sneak Peek
Along with news about Season 3’s release timeframe and a sneak peek, Netflix has shared a new video teaser for the Wit Studio remake of One Piece. The teaser shows character designs for the Straw Hat crew and Shanks, as well as some early concept art. Unfortunately, there’s still no news on when the remake will actually be released.
I’ve been so excited about this! Wit Studio announced they were remaking the East Blue Saga over two years ago at One Piece Day ’24, and it’s been a long wait! What’s really got fans like me hyped is that they’re not just updating the older animation – they’re bringing the whole thing to HD and, finally, tackling One Piece’s sometimes tricky pacing. It feels like a fresh start for a classic!
We haven’t heard much about the One Piece remake besides some early concept art and information about the team working on it. The recent teaser didn’t offer anything new, but it’s good to know the project is still moving forward and hasn’t been cancelled.
Netflix Announces A New One Piece Special
And the Timing Could Not Be More Perfect
Beyond the news about the third season of the live-action One Piece series, Netflix has also revealed a brand new animated LEGO ONE PIECE special. This two-part special is scheduled to premiere on September 29, 2026, and is a collaboration between Netflix, Shueisha, and Atomic Cartoons, the studio responsible for several other LEGO animated projects.
Netflix recently released a short preview of their upcoming Lego One Piece special. It appears the characters will be voiced by the same actors who played them in the live-action series. The story will cover the events of the first two seasons of that show.
Fans of One Piece have a lot to look forward to! Another animated special, One Piece: Heroines, is coming out on July 5th, and Summer 2026 is already looking exciting. Plus, a new Lego collaboration is perfectly timed with the anime’s start of the Elbaph Arc, which finds the Straw Hat crew stuck in a kingdom made of Lego bricks created by Giants.
The Elbaph Arc included scenes created to advertise the One Piece Lego sets launching in early 2025, and now the Lego animated special is completing that promotional connection.
