Netflix’s One Piece Live-Action Confirms The Return of Its Best Villain Yet

Just a heads-up: if you’re reading the One Piece manga, this article will spoil things! I’m really excited about the upcoming live-action One Piece series on Netflix – it’s set to premiere on March 10th, 2026! It’s been almost three years since the first season came out, so the wait feels long, but the trailer promises an even more thrilling ride. We’ll finally see Luffy and his crew enter the Grand Line, starting their quest to find the legendary treasure left behind by the Pirate King on the final island.

Before setting sail for the Grand Line, the crew will visit a famous town with a connection to the Pirate King, Gol D. Roger. The new season promises to feature fan-favorite characters and also brings back the most popular villain from the live-action series so far.

One Piece Live-Action Season 2 Confirms Buggy’s Return

Over the years, Eiichiro Oda’s original One Piece story has featured a lot of villains, but the live-action series is still early in the plot. Season one introduced Buggy as a key antagonist, and he quickly became a fan favorite. While Buggy is often a source of humor in the manga, the live-action portrayal by Jeff Ward is much more serious and compelling.

Buggy caused a lot of problems for the crew last season, and it seems he’s planning something even bigger now. The story is heading to Loguetown, a small town in the East Blue known as both the starting and ending point for many pirates. It’s famous as the birthplace and execution site of the Pirate King, and the Straw Hat Pirates stopped there briefly to gather supplies near the dangerous Reverse Mountain. Unfortunately, they unexpectedly ran into Buggy, who was eager to get revenge on Luffy after his embarrassing loss in the first season.

The trailer offers just a quick look at Buggy and keeps his part in the story a secret. Driven by a desire for revenge against Luffy, Buggy tracked him to Loguetown and will become a major problem for him throughout this story arc. Even though Buggy won’t be on screen for long in Season 2, he’ll cause significant trouble for Luffy before Luffy sets sail for the Grand Line.
