Netflix’s One Piece Live-Action Season 2 Won’t Include This Beloved Character

Please be aware that this article contains spoilers from the One Piece manga. The second season of the popular Netflix live-action series One Piece is coming soon, continuing the adventures of the Straw Hat Pirates. Following the strong reception of the first season, Season 2 will premiere on March 10, 2026. Although fans have waited longer than anticipated, this season promises to include some of the most memorable arcs from the original story. The recently released trailer has already given fans a first look at several fan-favorite characters, such as Nico Robin, Princess Vivi, and Tony Tony Chopper, among others.

While the new season features several new characters, it doesn’t include Portgas D. Ace, Luffy’s popular older brother. Fans are really excited to see Ace appear, but this season only covers the story arcs leading up to the Alabasta Arc. Therefore, Ace won’t be properly introduced until Season 3.

One Piece’s Ace Will Make an Appearance in The Drum Island Arc

Ace was Luffy’s older brother and a key leader within the Whitebeard Pirates. While he initially dreamed of becoming Pirate King like Luffy, he eventually joined Whitebeard, viewing him as a father figure. The two brothers spent their childhood together in Foosha Village, but Ace left to pursue his adventures two years before Luffy. During the Alabasta arc, Ace was independently tracking a dangerous pirate, which led him to Drum Island, where his target was last known to be.

He failed to find Luffy but learned his brother was traveling to Alabasta, which was also where Ace was headed. While Ace only makes a quick appearance during the Drum Island story arc, he’s destined to meet Luffy in Alabasta and will likely be a significant character. Ace almost crossed paths with Luffy on Drum Island, even though the story didn’t fully introduce him then. Given that he was barely visible during that time, it’s uncertain whether the live-action adaptation will include him at all.

Ace quickly became a beloved character in One Piece during the Alabasta storyline. Because the live-action series has made some changes from the original manga, it’s possible we won’t see him appear on Drum Island. However, due to Ace’s popularity and importance to the plot, Netflix is unlikely to cut him from the Alabasta Arc altogether. We might get our first look at the actor playing Ace when the trailer for Season 3 is released, though that’s still some time away.
