I’m so hyped! Netflix is bringing back One Piece with Season 2 of the live-action series next year, and they just gave us a sneak peek at Tony Tony Chopper! Honestly, the first season was a huge surprise hit – live-action anime adaptations haven’t always gone well, but One Piece totally nailed it. It did so well, in fact, that Netflix immediately greenlit two more seasons! I can’t wait to see where they take the story next.
The second season of the live-action One Piece series, officially titled One Piece Into the Grand Line, will feature the introduction of Chopper to the Straw Hat crew during the Drum Island storyline. Chopper is a key character in One Piece, and that remains true in the live-action adaptation. A first look at the new character was revealed at the Jump Festa 2026 event in Japan this weekend – you can see it below.
Netflix’s One Piece Shows Off Live-Action Chopper
I just watched a new video highlighting the live-action introduction of Chopper, and it was really interesting! It showed not only Mikaela Hoover, who’s voicing him – you might recognize her from Superman and Guardians of the Galaxy – but also all the actors who will be dubbing Chopper into different languages for the series. And a nice touch? Ikue Otani, who originally voiced Chopper in the One Piece anime, is back to reprise her role for the live-action show, just like the other Japanese voice actors!
Chopper is likely to be a key character in the future of the One Piece live-action series. With the plan to fully animate him using CGI starting in Season 2, it’s crucial that he’s well-executed. The production team faces significant pressure to make Chopper look perfect, because even a small flaw could break the audience’s immersion in the show. The success of the series really depends on getting Chopper right.
When Does One Piece Season 2 Come Out on Netflix?
Fans won’t have to wait long to see the live-action adaptation continue! One Piece Into the Grand Line will premiere worldwide on Netflix on March 10th. This new eight-episode season covers the Loguetown, Reverse Mountain, Whiskey Peak, Little Garden, and Drum Island story arcs from the original One Piece manga. Immediately following that, Netflix will release a third season that dives into the epic Alabasta saga.
Netflix is currently making the third season of One Piece. This season will give bigger parts to characters like Chopper, Vivi, Nico Robin, and Sir Crocodile, starting with the second season’s episodes. The cast is also growing with exciting new actors: Xolo Maridueña will play Portgas D. Ace, Cole Escola is Bon Clay, Awdo Awdo will be Mr. 1, and Daisy Head joins as Miss Doublefinger.
