Netflix’s One Piece Shares Major Season 3 Update

The second season of the live-action One Piece series saw the Straw Hat crew tackling their most significant challenges yet as they journeyed through the Grand Line. Following the season’s release earlier this year, Netflix is heavily invested in the adventures of Monkey D. Luffy and his crew. To build excitement for the show’s return, the streaming service has announced some important updates about what fans can expect. With the full reveal of Sir Crocodile in the season finale, Netflix has shared news regarding the show’s renewal and its official title.

The next season of the live-action One Piece series will be titled One Piece: The Battle of Alabasta. Good news for fans – you won’t have to wait as long for it as you did between the first and second seasons! Netflix has announced the third season will arrive in 2027, a relatively quick turnaround. This season will largely take place on the desert island of Alabasta, featuring the villain Crocodile and introducing several important new characters to the live-action adaptation.

Alabasta is Coming

Joe Tracz and Ian Stokes, the showrunners for season three, recently shared details about the upcoming Alabasta arc. They described the Alabasta saga as a fan favorite and a personal highlight, expressing their excitement to adapt it. According to the showrunners, season three will expand on previous storylines to deliver an epic, emotional, and surprising war story. They encourage fans to prepare for high stakes and some unexpected surprises when the Straw Hats arrive in Princess Vivi’s hometown, hinting at some ‘big ducks’ along the way.

As of today, Netflix hasn’t announced whether the live-action One Piece series will continue beyond its third season. However, with so much more story to tell from the original manga and anime – especially after the Alabasta arc – there’s plenty of material for future seasons. Recently, people involved with the show have expressed a desire to create twelve seasons, aiming to adapt as much of the One Piece story as possible. Even the cast has mentioned that the creator, Eiichiro Oda (who’s also an executive producer), has a clear idea of how and where the series should ultimately end. Hopefully, the show will be renewed, allowing fans to see the Straw Hats’ adventures continue in live-action!
