The first season of Netflix’s Wednesday ended with a shocking cliffhanger, hinting at a crucial backstory involving a previously unseen member of the Addams Family. Now, Wednesday Addams (Jenna Ortega) is embarking on a new investigation with her Uncle Fester and Thing, prompted by a disturbing vision of her imprisoned ‘Aunt Ophelia.’ Unbeknownst to the Addams family, Ophelia is also experiencing visions and has ominously declared – in writing with blood – that ‘Wednesday Must Die.’
As is common with early previews, we hadn’t yet seen Aunt Ophelia because the role hadn’t been filled… until now! Season 3 of Wednesday just announced its newest cast member, and fans will be excited to learn who will be playing Ophelia Frump.

Eva Green is rumored to be joining Season 3 of Wednesday as Aunt Ophelia. Ophelia shares Wednesday’s psychic abilities, but she overextended herself and was committed to Willow Hill Psychiatric Hospital by their mother, Hester Frump. Though Ophelia escaped, the Season 2 finale showed Hester had been secretly holding her captive in the mansion’s basement. Ophelia is obsessed with Wednesday and believes she needs to be eliminated. Season 3 appears to be focusing on long-held family conflicts within the Addams family.
Eva Green is just amazing, right? I first fell in love with her in Casino Royale, and she’s been incredible in everything since, like Penny Dreadful and those cool Tim Burton movies – Dark Shadows and Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. She’s one of those actors everyone loves, and I think she’ll fit perfectly into the Wednesday universe. I can already picture her having fantastic scenes with Jenna Ortega’s Wednesday, Luis Guzmán’s Gomez, and especially Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia. Honestly, just the thought of Zeta-Jones and Green going head-to-head in a darkly funny Tim Burton world? That’s something I need to see!
You can currently watch seasons 1 and 2 of Wednesday on Netflix, and production for season 3 is starting soon. The show has been very successful for Netflix and has allowed director Tim Burton to return to the dark, gothic style he’s known for.
