If you enjoyed Black Myth: Wukong and are eager for another large-scale action RPG, Project TAL is worth checking out. Developed by WEMADE MAX with MADNGINE, this new game draws inspiration from Korean Tal masks and folklore to build a huge, open-world fantasy setting filled with intriguing secrets and frightening creatures.
The initial trailer for Project TAL immediately showcases its exciting combat. Players will engage in a visually stunning, cinematic style of fighting, leaping onto massive creatures to target their weak points and execute impressive combos. Those familiar with Wukong will find the combat feels similar – a blend of accuracy, strength, and timing that makes each strike feel powerful. Battles emphasize skillful dodging, well-timed counters, and precise attacks over simply pressing buttons repeatedly.

A key feature of the game is a companion system that allows you to battle with helpful AI allies. These companions are dynamic and respond to both your actions and the events unfolding around you. The trailer showcases how they actively participate in combat – for example, a support character might create a shield to block attacks, or a close-combat companion will jump in to defend you. There’s even a memorable moment where the player catches a falling ally during a fight, highlighting the seamless blend of action and teamwork.
WEMADE MAX CEO Sohn Myun-seok explains that Project TAL aims to blend a moving story about restoring a damaged world with the fast-paced, action-packed battles of a traditional RPG. This combination of exciting gameplay and heartfelt storytelling is similar to what fans enjoyed in Wukong. While Black Myth draws heavily from Chinese mythology and the tale of the Monkey King, Project TAL explores Korean culture, offering a unique and distinct experience.
As a fan, I’m really fascinated by the Tal masks in Project TAL. They’re not just cool designs – they’re deeply connected to Korean culture, with each one symbolizing different feelings and personality traits, from bravery to trickery. What’s even cooler is how the developers are weaving these masks into the story and gameplay. It’s not just about fighting; it feels like the combat means something, and it’s making the game feel so much more immersive and grounded than your typical action game. It’s a brilliant way to blend storytelling with action!

The game appears to blend elements from Wukong, Monster Hunter, and Sekiro. You’ll be able to target enemy weaknesses for massive damage, skillfully counter attacks, and climb onto and fight large creatures, reminiscent of Shadow of the Colossus. Combat looks quick and relies heavily on player skill and precise timing. A dynamic companion system adds another layer, making each battle feel both engaging and unpredictable.
Project TAL is stunning to look at. The trailer showcases incredibly detailed environments, from foggy forests to old temples. Characters move realistically, and the monster designs feel like they’ve leaped from the pages of a myth. MADNGINE’s technology really makes the game’s world come alive, and it’s evident the team is striving for the same visual flair that made Black Myth: Wukong so popular.
Even though Project TAL isn’t scheduled to release until 2027, it’s already generating a lot of excitement as a promising new action RPG. It’s planned for release on both computers and consoles, and early previews suggest it will appeal to players worldwide who enjoy fast-paced combat and a compelling, dramatic story.
Okay, so I was totally hooked by Black Myth: Wukong – the mythology, the awesome combat, everything. And I think Project TAL could give me that same feeling, but in a fresh way. Seriously, I’m keeping a close watch on this one – it feels like it could be the next huge action RPG everyone will be playing.
