New Alien Prequel & Gladiator 3 Status Revealed by Ridley Scott

Renowned director Ridley Scott has offered a quick peek into the present situation of Gladiator 3, hinting at potential plans for another installment in the Alien series. Despite his absence from recent Alien productions, he continues to serve as a producer in the ongoing saga of this sci-fi action franchise.

What were Ridley Scott’s Alien prequel and Gladiator 3 updates?

During a chat with The Guardian, Scott expressed that he’s still eager for another Alien film if a suitable chance presents itself. Furthermore, he shared that he has already begun work on the third chapter of the Gladiator saga, following the acclaimed critical and commercial success of Gladiator II from last year.

Scott mentioned that the Gladiator project is currently underway. He also hinted at another Alien prequel, assuming he comes up with a good concept for it.

Presently, Scott functions as a producer on FX’s Alien: Earth series, a prequel to the influential 1979 movie starring Sigourney Weaver. This production is orchestrated by writer and director Noah Hawley. The cast includes Sydney Chandler, Timothy Olyphant, Alex Lawther, Adarsh Gourav, Kit Young, Erana James, Lily Newmark, and Jonathan Ajayi. At the moment, it’s being broadcasted, with the initial four episodes accessible for streaming on Hulu. Since its premiere, it has earned a Certified Fresh rating of 95% on Rotten Tomatoes.

In a second installment titled Gladiator II, Scott served as director from a script penned by David Scarpa. The film featured Paul Mescal, nominated for an Oscar, portraying Lucius, Pedro Pascal as Acacius, and Denzel Washington as Macrinus, who earned a Golden Globe nod for Best Supporting Actor. As Scott works on the next Gladiator film, he’s also gearing up for the 2026 release of his latest science fiction movie, The Dog Stars. This post-apocalyptic project will star Jacob Elordi, Margaret Qualley, and Josh Brolin.
