It appears that PlayStation may have inadvertently revealed details about a forthcoming Assassin’s Creed game, although the exact title could be Hexe, Invictus, or one of the remakes. The intriguing aspect of this leak is that it hints at an imminent release for the new Assassin’s Creed installment. Interestingly, the source of this latest leak comes from PlayStation Network itself.
On social media platform X, there’s talk about a potential new Assassin’s Creed game hinted by an update to PlayStation Network’s backend. Although this suggests something is coming up since such updates wouldn’t happen without a reason, it doesn’t reveal any specific details about the game itself. It seems we can safely assume that Assassin’s Creed Shadows DLC is not part of this, as the uploaded content does not match the pattern of past DLC releases for Assassin’s Creed games.
Based on earlier speculations, it’s believed that Ubisoft might unveil Assassin’s Creed: Project Invictus this year. This upcoming title is anticipated to be a more experimental, multiplayer game with a smaller scale compared to its predecessors. Although Ubisoft has not yet confirmed the existence of this rumored game, it’s currently the most probable candidate, considering earlier predictions suggested a 2025 release date for it.
Besides being a remake, there are other possibilities. Ubisoft has openly acknowledged that they are developing multiple Assassin’s Creed remakes, with the initial one rumored to be a reimagining of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. However, according to past reports, this remake is not planned for release until after 2025. Similarly, the next mainline installment, codenamed Hexe, is not expected to be ready for 2025 either, based on previous reporting.

At present, we’re dealing with mere assumptions, but it appears that a fresh installment from the Assassin’s Creed series may be launching soon, possibly by the end of this year. However, it won’t be the Assassin’s Creed Shadows DLC; that one is still scheduled for release.
Currently, Ubisoft hasn’t spoken about the recent leak nor addressed the rumors that have ensued. It’s unlikely that this will change, however, should anything new emerge, we will promptly amend the narrative.
