Since the whispers about a fresh BioShock installment began circulating back in 2018, I’ve been eagerly waiting for any news – and in 2019, my hopes soared when 2K unveiled Cloud Chamber Studios, dedicated to crafting this very game. However, since then, it seems like the only thing we’ve heard is crickets. The year 2022 brought rumors of a movie adaptation, but even that project remains silent. Yet, just recently, a new report has sparked hope in our hearts once more. It appears that after this lengthy wait, BioShock fans might finally get their hands on something soon!
Based on information from a reliable source within the industry known as Kurakasis, it appears that 2K may be organizing an Alternate Reality Game (ARG) event. The purpose of this event remains uncertain at present, but there’s a strong possibility that it could be connected to BioShock 4, given that it is currently the only confirmed project from 2K. While it’s also speculated that this could potentially be for a BioShock movie, the production for which is ongoing at Netflix and they don’t have much experience with ARGs. It’s possible that this event could instead be for another project, such as a remake of the original game. However, it should be noted that these are merely speculations. More likely than not, the ARG is being planned for a new BioShock game.
According to Kurakasis, an ARG (Alternate Reality Game) connected to BioShock, possibly for BioShock 4, a remake, or a movie, is being considered, but it’s unclear whether this project will be released before or after its associated project is announced. The central theme of this ARG is said to revolve around the underwater city of Rapture.
Previous speculations have indicated that BioShock 4 might not take place in Rapture. Given that the ARG (Alternate Reality Game) revolves around Rapture, it could possibly hint at this being connected to the movie or a remake rather than the new game’s setting. However, if an ARG for BioShock were to be created as promotion, it would likely use Rapture as a background, not the setting of the upcoming game, since Rapture is essentially synonymous with BioShock.
In summary, remember that the information provided here should be viewed with caution since the source in question has demonstrated inconsistencies over the last couple of years. At present, neither 2K, Cloud Chamber, Netflix, or any other parties mentioned have responded to these claims. It is unlikely that this will change soon, but if it does, we will make sure to update the story accordingly.
