Fans of Soul Society eagerly anticipate the fourth and final set of episodes for “Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War,” due out next year. Studio Pierrot is diligently developing Ichigo Kurosaki’s final anime adventure, as his battles against the Sternritter bring to a close the main storyline from the manga. Although a specific release date has yet to be announced, a significant development points towards a significant new undertaking within the Shinigami world. Despite the lack of a confirmed new manga arc, “Bleach” continues to stay relevant in the public eye.
Shueisha has recently registered a trademark for “Bleach: Mirrors High”, which was categorized under ‘gaming’ when it was confirmed for the US, Japan, and Europe. This suggests that we might be looking at another console or mobile game set in the Soul Society. While specific details about “Mirrors High” are yet to be revealed, it will join other Bleach games like “Bleach: Rebirth of Souls”, which has brought back characters from creator Tite Kubo in the gaming world.
The Blood War Continues
Previously, Ichigo Kurosaki and his Soul Society companions found themselves in a difficult position. Though some Shinigami managed to win against prominent members of the Wandenreich, overthrowing their leader, Yhwach, proved to be an immense task. Due to his newfound ability to alter reality as the Soul King’s heir, Yhwach presents a formidable opponent, leaving our extraordinary heroes questioning how best to vanquish him. As Ichigo grows in power, combining his Shinigami and Quincy abilities, there is still work to be done if he aims to save the day.
After the finale of the Blood War, creator Tite Kubo decided to revisit his popular shonen series once more. In 2021, Kubo published a one-shot special in celebration of Bleach’s twentieth anniversary called “Bleach: No Breaths From Hell.” In this manga chapter, readers get to catch up with Ichigo and the survivors of their battle against Yhwach years later. Many of the characters now have families, but trouble brews again when a sinister force from the underworld threatens their world, causing issues that are particularly personal for the Soul Society. While this story may not be extensive enough for a full season, it could still make its way to the screen.
