There’s been a rumor suggesting a new Fire Emblem game for the Nintendo Switch 2 might be in development by one of its creators. Since 1990, when Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light first appeared, it’s been over three decades since this strategic RPG series made its debut. The last release was Fire Emblem Engage two years ago, but the most recent significant addition was Fire Emblem: Three Houses in 2019. As Nintendo Switch 2 has just been launched, fans are eagerly anticipating the next installment. If the speculation is true, it seems that Intelligent Systems could be working on a new game right now.
According to YouTuber Doctre81’s findings, Takeshi Maruyama, a professional 3D character modeler, has a LinkedIn profile suggesting he’s working on a sequel to one of Nintendo’s rare strategy role-playing games (SRPG) for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. For those unaware, SRPG stands for strategy role-playing game. Notably, Nintendo doesn’t produce many such games. Among the possibilities, it appears that the project could be part of its prestigious Fire Emblem series, a well-known strategy RPG franchise from Nintendo.
As an enthusiast, I must admit that the LinkedIn profile of the Nintendo contractor doesn’t definitively prove this is a new Fire Emblem game. In fact, it provides no insights about the project whatsoever. The buzz and speculation surrounding it are intriguing, but it’s important to remember to approach such information with a bit of skepticism.
It’s widely believed that Intelligent Systems is working on a Fire Emblem game for Nintendo Switch 2, but the specifics – whether it’s a new entry, sequel, upgrade, or reimagining – remain unclear. Over the past few years, there have been whispers about various possibilities in relation to this game.
