Okay, so there’s this new game out on Steam, and it’s totally free for PC players! It’s kinda weird, though, because it’s actually an Xbox game. You can’t get it for free on Xbox consoles – not on the One, Series S, or Series X. I’m trying to figure out if it’ll even run on my Steam Deck, and Steam just says compatibility is ‘Unknown,’ which is annoying. But hey, at least it’s free to try on Steam, so I don’t have to worry about wasting money if it doesn’t work!
A new free game called Spartan Survivors is available on Steam and has been very well received, with 88% of players giving it a positive review. While it’s a *Haloinspired game, it wasn’t made by Xbox themselves. Instead, it’s the debut project of a single developer named Bathrobe, who independently developed and published the game on Steam.
About the Game
If you’re new to Spartan Survivors, it’s a fast-paced, challenging game where you play as a Spartan battling waves of enemies from both the Flood and the Covenant. What’s impressive is how much content there is for a free PC game, and it’s highly replayable. You’ll find 10 levels to play, 5 difficulty settings, 21 different weapons, 14 character perks, 8 playable characters, and even a custom game mode to tailor your experience.
Halo Studios shared their excitement about the new release, praising the dedication of the development team and saying they’re really enjoying the game and eager to unlock more content as they progress.
Players are enjoying this fast-paced shooting game, with many noting its similarity to Halo: Combat Evolved. One reviewer called it a “fun bullet hell game” that clearly takes inspiration from the Halo series, while another simply described it as a “nice and fun game” with a strong Halo feel.
If the latest free game on Steam doesn’t appeal to you, don’t worry – there are other new free options available. You could try a new first-person shooter that feels like classic Bethesda games, or if you’re in the mood for Halloween, there’s a new free horror game to check out.
