Steam is offering a new free game that players are saying is worth a look. While it’s available on PC, Steam Deck users won’t find any information about whether it works well on their device – compatibility is currently unlisted. Luckily, the game is free to download, so Steam Deck owners can try it out and essentially test it for Valve at no cost.
A new free game called SnowBot has launched on Steam, marking the debut release for developer Inoutofit. Early reviews are overwhelmingly positive, with 91% of over 100 users recommending it – earning the game a “Very Positive” rating, which is Steam’s second-highest distinction. Interestingly, despite being free, SnowBot hasn’t suffered the drop in positive reviews often seen with free releases. Usually, when a paid game becomes temporarily free, its review score actually decreases, likely because a wider, less invested audience tries it. SnowBot seems to be an exception.
“A Neat Game”
Some players have mentioned that SnowBot’s controls can feel awkward, but that’s understandable for a free game. The game’s appealing characters, graphics, and overall atmosphere more than make up for it. Players used to standard WASD controls on PC should have no trouble, but others might find the controls a bit unusual at first.
The most popular review describes the game as enjoyable with appealing visuals and a cool atmosphere, complemented by fitting music. It features a few puzzles and interesting interactions, making for a brief but engaging adventure.
One player described the game as delightful and relaxing, praising its peaceful atmosphere and lovely music. They especially enjoyed exploring at their own pace, interacting with the environment, and gradually discovering the story.
The future of SnowBot is uncertain. While it received one update since its release, it’s unlikely to get many more, as the game is free and doesn’t generate revenue for the developer. If SnowBot doesn’t appeal to you, there’s another free PC game on Steam, but you need to claim it soon before the offer ends.
