A new Ghost Recon game is expected to be released soon, following the upcoming remake of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag on July 9th. We first heard rumors about a new Ghost Recon title in January 2025, with a projected release in 2026. Ubisoft officially acknowledged the game in July of that year, but hasn’t shared any specific details. It appears that’s about to change, with a formal announcement expected very soon.
According to Tom Henderson, a well-known and highly accurate source of information about Ubisoft, the next major Assassin’s Creed game – following Assassin’s Creed: IV: Black Flag – is likely to be released sometime after July 9th. Since Ubisoft doesn’t currently have any other confirmed major releases scheduled, pinpointing a more specific date is difficult. Based on current information, late 2026 or early 2027 seems like a plausible timeframe, but it’s still just an educated guess.
Ghost Recon Fans Have Been Waiting
It’s been a long time since the last Ghost Recon game, and dedicated fans have definitely noticed. The series started in 2001 and used to release new installments frequently. However, it’s been seven years since the last game, Ghost Recon: Breakpoint, came out in 2019. We’re not sure why there’s been such a gap, but it might be related to the disappointing reviews and sales of Breakpoint, especially since its predecessor, Ghost Recon Wildlands (2017), was very popular.
Honestly, as a big Ghost Recon fan, I’m still trying to figure out what this new game will actually be. Is it going to feel like a proper Ghost Recon title, or are they just trying to jump on whatever’s popular? Battle royales had their moment, but now I’m wondering if we’ll see an extraction shooter. That seems likely, but for now, it’s all just rumors. What is confirmed is they’re completely changing the game engine, which is a big deal!
