After a long wait, it appears Ghost Rider is finally joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
As a big Marvel fan, it’s easy to forget that we’ve already seen Ghost Rider in the MCU – not once, but twice! It’s been a while, though. I remember Gabriel Luna playing Robbie Reyes as Ghost Rider in ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ back in 2016 and 2017, and it feels like ages ago. They really haven’t brought him back since.
Johnny Blaze briefly appeared in a Season 4 episode, shown in a flashback that revealed how Reyes became the Ghost Rider in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Although there were plans for a Ghost Rider series on Hulu, with Gabriel Luna reprising his role, the show was canceled due to disagreements about its direction. As a result, the character hasn’t appeared in the MCU since.
When will Ghost Rider arrive in the MCU?
Okay, so I’m hearing some really exciting news! Daniel Richtman, who’s usually pretty reliable with this stuff, is saying Marvel is finally moving forward with a Ghost Rider project for the next phase of the MCU. He dropped the news on X (formerly Twitter), and it sounds like it’s actually happening this time. As a huge Marvel fan, I’ve been waiting for this for ages!
Details are still scarce, so it’s currently unknown which Ghost Rider will appear in the project. It could be Robbie Reyes (Luna), Johnny Blaze, or another character who has taken on the role of the Spirit of Vengeance. As with any rumor, fans should be cautious, as these reports aren’t always completely accurate.
A recent report from Richtman suggests progress on casting Ghost Rider for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, following a similar claim six months ago about the actor chosen to play Johnny Blaze. However, even if the report is accurate, an official announcement is likely a ways off, as Ghost Rider isn’t expected to appear until after the current Multiverse Saga concludes. That saga is currently planned to finish in 2027 with the release of Avengers: Secret Wars on December 17th.
Fans wanting to revisit the Robbie Reyes version of Ghost Rider can rewatch Season 4 of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. on Disney+.
