New Haikyu Movie Confirms Release Window With Epic Trailer (With an Extra Surprise for Fans)

A new movie is being made for Haikyu!!, and it could be the last one! The original manga finished a few years ago, and now the anime series is wrapping up too. After the TV show ended, two movies were announced to finish the story, and the second one is coming soon. A new trailer has been released, giving fans a sneak peek of what to expect.

The second film in the planned Haikyu!! FINAL project, Haikyu!! vs. The Little Giant, will conclude the anime series. Continuing directly after the events of Haikyu!! The Dumpster Battle, the movie follows Karasuno as they compete in the Nationals tournament. A first look at the film was revealed at Jump Festa 2026, and it’s scheduled for release in Japanese theaters in 2027. You can watch the preview below.

What to Know for Haikyu’s Final Movie

After the fourth season of Haikyu!! finished, a special project called Haikyu!! FINAL was announced to conclude the anime series. This project turned out to be two movies, and now we know they’ll cover Karasuno’s matches at Nationals. The first movie, Haikyu!! vs. The Little Giant, will focus on their intense match against Kamomedai High School – a crucial game that sets up future events. However, since this is intended to be the final movie, fans are wondering if the story will cover all the remaining content from the manga that takes place after this match.

I’m aware there’s still a whole final story arc to come after the Nationals competition, plus a lot of smaller side plots woven into that. However, since we haven’t heard anything about future plans yet, it feels like this is shaping up to be the anime’s ending, even though the creators will likely have to leave some parts of the original story out. Thankfully, it seems like there’s more planned for 2027 beyond just the anime!

What’s Going on With Haikyu Next?

The movie Haikyu!! vs. The Little Giant is set to premiere in Japan in 2027, and will be accompanied by a new anime special called Haikyu!! Bakemonotachi no Iku Tokoro. Originally announced as a TV special, it was recently revealed at Jump Festa 2026 that the episode will be released with the film. Like the movie, the special will focus on a crucial match from the National Championships.

The highly anticipated match between Fukurodani and Mujinazaka High Schools will be included in the upcoming two-part anime film project, which is great news for fans! While 2027 may seem like a long wait, this installment promises to be as exceptional as all previous seasons of Haikyu!!, and likely surpass expectations.
