As a huge Halo fan, I was already so excited to hear about the remake of the original Halo: Combat Evolved coming in 2026 – and the fact that it’s finally coming to PlayStation! But now, it sounds like that might not be the only classic game getting the remake treatment. Halo Studios recently announced they were working on the first game, and it looks like we’re starting to get hints about what other games they might be planning to remake in the future. It’s really exciting to think about potentially reliving those early Halo experiences with updated graphics and gameplay!
According to a well-known Halo insider, “Halo Leaks,” both Halo 2 and Halo 3 are also in line for remakes. Like the remake of Halo: Combat Evolved, these will focus solely on the single-player campaigns, with no plans to remake the multiplayer portions. Fans shouldn’t expect a new Halo multiplayer experience until the next full sequel, currently referred to as Halo 7.
Halo 2 and Halo 3 are getting completely rebuilt from the ground up, and they will include sprinting. However, these remakes will only feature the campaign story – no multiplayer. Multiplayer will be saved for the next mainline Halo game, Halo 7.

Although it’s currently just speculation, a move by Halo Studios to remaster older titles would likely be a smart decision. Both Halo 2 and Halo 3 are still incredibly popular with fans, and bringing them to today’s consoles would undoubtedly excite a lot of players.
This also explains why Halo Studios hasn’t released Halo: The Master Chief Collection on PlayStation. With Xbox increasingly publishing games on PS5, many expected Halo: MCC to eventually appear on Sony’s console. However, it appears Halo Studios may be opting to remake each game in the original Halo trilogy instead. While this approach will take more time, Microsoft likely believes it will be more profitable in the long run than simply porting The Master Chief Collection to PS5.
As a huge Halo fan, I’m really hoping we get remakes of Halo 2 and Halo 3! But it sounds like we probably won’t hear anything official until next year. It seems like 343 Industries is focusing on getting the Halo: Combat Evolved remake out first, and then they’ll start sharing what they have planned for the future of the series. I’m trying to be patient, but the wait is killing me!
