New Hobbit Game Announced

New Hobbit Game Announced

As a seasoned gamer and ardent fan of J.R.R Tolkien’s Middle-earth saga, I must say that Games Workshop’s latest announcement has sent shivers of excitement down my spine! Growing up with the epic tales of Bilbo Baggins and the brave dwarves, I can hardly contain my anticipation for “The Hobbit Motion Picture Trilogy: Hunt for the Arkenstone.”

Games Workshop has unveiled a brand new board game inspired by the Hobbit films titled: “The Hobbit Motion Picture Trilogy: The Arkenstone Hunt – A Middle-earth Adventure Game”. This cooperative game allows players to assume the roles of Thorin Oakenshield and his companions, who are on a mission to bring the Arkenstone back to the Throne Room within the Lonely Mountain. Simultaneously, Azog and his band attempt to locate them in what Games Workshop characterizes as an “exciting, fast-paced” game suitable for two or more players. In line with other Games Workshop games, “The Arkenstone Hunt” will likely come equipped with 15 miniatures made of plastic, presumably representing Thorin and his allies, along with select orc adversaries.

Despite primarily being recognized for their work on ‘Warhammer 40K’, Games Workshop has also been producing the ‘Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game’ for quite some time, a miniatures skirmish game inspired by the ‘Lord of the Rings’ and ‘Hobbit’ films. The game includes miniatures of almost every film character, along with supporting units, and even characters who had minimal screen time. Earlier this month, Games Workshop unveiled plans for a new version of the ‘Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game’, featuring fresh content from the upcoming animated movie titled ‘War of the Rohirrim‘.

On occasion, Games Workshop has released other tabletop games that take place within the realm of The Lord of the Rings, such as one that reenacts the well-known Battle in Balin’s Tomb from The Fellowship of the Ring. While some of these games serve to familiarize players with the mechanics and ideas presented in their larger titles, others are primarily meant to highlight the intricate miniatures and unique board game concepts.

As a passionate gamer eagerly awaiting “The Hobbit Motion Picture Trilogy: Hunt for the Arkenstone – A Middle-earth Adventure,” I’ve got some exciting news to share! Regrettably, there’s still no word on when it will be released or how much it’ll cost. But, get ready to mark your calendars because pre-orders for this epic journey through Middle-earth go live this very Saturday!
