New Indie Action Game With Smooth But Tough Combat Is Perfect For Sekiro & Devil May Cry Fans

The beginning of 2026 was a little slow for gaming, but March has brought a surge of exciting new releases! With so many games coming out, it’s easy to overlook some hidden gems. One to watch is Homura Hime, a new action RPG for PC (available on Steam since March 4th). If you’re a fan of games like Sekiro or Devil May Cry, this is definitely one to check out.

I recently got to play Homura Hime, the new indie game from Crimson Dusk and Playism, and I can totally see why it’s getting such good reviews on Steam! It’s got this really cool 3D anime style, and the world is packed with demons. You play as Homura Hime, a powerful exorcist, and your job is to take down the biggest, baddest demons to save the world. It’s a fast-paced action game – you’ll be pulling off crazy combos, dodging tons of bullets in bullet-hell sections, and even doing a little platforming. It’s seriously addictive!

Homura Hime Offers Fast-Paced Combat and Platforming Challenges

The game quickly gets you started with a brief tutorial, then throws you into exciting battles. You’ll fight demons using quick combos, and each demon attacks differently, so you’ll need to learn various strategies to win. A particularly rewarding feature is the Parry system – perfectly timed blocks that create a satisfying sound and help Homura survive, while also boosting your score in challenging fights.

Stronger enemies use intense, bullet-hell style attacks that you have to dodge – you can’t block these. Despite the difficulty, combat feels fluid and satisfying. Successfully chaining together attacks, blocks, and dodges is rewarding, and the diverse enemy patterns keep battles engaging. As you play, you’ll learn new abilities and combos, giving you even more options both in and out of combat.

Even when you’re not fighting, the game still presents challenges. While the world can sometimes feel a bit sparse, it compensates with exciting platforming sections. You’ll be chasing creatures across disappearing platforms and using special abilities to soar through the air. I haven’t played a really challenging platformer in a while, and Homura Hime certainly delivered on that front.

Devil May Cry Fans Are Already Singing Homura Hime‘s Praises

I’m having a good time playing Homura Hime, and I wanted to see what other players thought of it. I checked the Steam reviews, and despite being released amongst many other games, Homura Hime is receiving a lot of positive feedback. Just a few days after launch, it’s already achieved a ‘Very Positive’ overall review score on Steam.

Players are really loving the quick and exciting battles, because they force you to learn how each enemy works. Every enemy feels different and needs its own strategy, which isn’t always the case in action RPGs. And the boss fights are fantastic – they’re challenging and visually impressive for anyone who enjoys a good spectacle.

Players who enjoy games like Devil May Cry are finding Homura Hime to be a good match, as the combat and move combinations feel similar. Some have also compared it to Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. Overall, Homura Hime delivers engaging action and platforming, making it a worthwhile action RPG. You can expect around 10-15 hours of story content, and it’s currently available on Steam for $24.99 with a 10% discount until March 17th.
