Konami recently shared an update about *Silent Hill*, and it’s positive news for players who weren’t thrilled with *Silent Hill f*. Our review gave the new *Silent Hill* game a solid four out of five stars, and it currently has an 86 on Metacritic. That’s a good score overall, but it’s particularly impressive for a horror game. Horror titles often receive lower reviews than games in other genres because they’re so subjective and difficult to get right. So, you might think everyone would welcome more of *Silent Hill f*, but that’s not actually the case.
We previously covered the strong reactions the new game has caused among dedicated *Silent Hill* fans. Some longtime fans dislike it because it breaks from the traditional *Silent Hill* formula, opting for a fresh approach. While this has attracted new players, it’s also created a divide. Recently, producer Motoi Okamoto mentioned he anticipated even *more* disagreement. Despite this, Konami appears happy with how the game has been received, but that doesn’t guarantee more games like this one. Okamoto specifically stated that more traditional *Silent Hill* games are still planned.
About Future Silent Hill Games
The producer recently shared on X that future *Silent Hill* games won’t necessarily play like the upcoming game, *f*. Instead, the team wants to make each new title uniquely challenging and offer a different gameplay experience. However, they emphasized that strong storytelling will always be a core part of *Silent Hill*, and they’re committed to delivering compelling psychological narratives in future installments.
The biggest point of discussion surrounding *Silent Hill f* has been how it plays. While comparisons to *Dark Souls* are an exaggeration, its gameplay is actually more similar to *Dark Souls* than to previous *Silent Hill* games. This shift has understandably worried some fans, so Okamoto’s recent statement should help reassure them that *Silent Hill f* will still feel like a true *Silent Hill* experience.
