The world of Avatar: The Last Airbender is expanding! Paramount has created Avatar Studios to produce both a new TV series and movies. Before the new show, Avatar: Seven Havens, arrives, fans will get to see Aang and his friends return in a live-action film, The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender, slated for release next October. Despite some setbacks, excitement is building for this continuation of the story, which will feature the beloved characters as adults. Recently, a first look at the older Aang has appeared online, much to the delight of fans.
An animator at Paramount recently shared a glimpse of what an older Aang might look like on Instagram. Tamas Pazmany, who joined the production of The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender near the end, received a crew t-shirt featuring an outline of the aged-up Avatar. He shared the image and expressed his excitement about being involved in the project. Fans can now get a first look at this future version of Aang, just under a year before the movie is released.

The History of Adult Aang
Although we’ll see an adult Aang in theaters on October 9th, 2026, this isn’t the first time we’ve seen him as an adult. Throughout the sequel series, The Legend of Korra, Aang’s successor, Korra, often sought his guidance. These interactions allowed fans to learn more about Aang and his life after the original Avatar: The Last Airbender. In fact, the first season of The Legend of Korra featured Aang in action years later, showing he remained a powerful force.
As of today, the full plot of the upcoming The Legend of Aang movie remains unknown. However, the filmmakers have revealed much of the voice cast, and some choices differ from the original animated series. Earlier this year, casting director Jenny Jue explained that they decided to prioritize casting voice actors who share the ethnic and racial backgrounds of their characters. While Avatar: The Last Airbender is a fantasy world, it draws inspiration from various cultures, and the team wanted to authentically represent those influences through the cast. Jue expressed her pride in the new cast and hopes fans will be receptive to these fresh takes on familiar characters.
I’m curious to hear what everyone thinks of this new take on Avatar: The Last Airbender. I’d love to know your opinions – feel free to share them in the comments and join the discussion over at the ComicBook Forum!
