A recent trailer for the new season of The Mandalorian & Grogu has sparked concerns among fans about Pedro Pascal’s continued role in the Star Wars universe. Pascal has been widely praised for his portrayal of Din Djarin since 2019, and has been the face of The Mandalorian on Disney+. But with his rising popularity, some worry he might move on from the franchise.
Worries increased after a new trailer for Pascal’s first Star Wars film was released. To mark 200 days until the premiere of The Mandalorian & Grogu, the official Star Wars Japan X account shared a new post about the movie.
The account briefly described the movie – including when it will be released and who will star in it – and highlighted its emotional story about love and loss.
A new tale of love and loss will soon begin, unfolding in a distant galaxy long ago.
The hint about a loss has sparked discussion among fans, with many wondering if Din Djarin might not make it through the film.
One person responded to the post with confusion, asking, “What’s ‘loss?’ If it’s anything like what I’m thinking, I definitely don’t want that!” Another commenter felt that a tragic storyline wouldn’t fit the relationship between the Din father and son.
Since becoming more well-known, Pedro Pascal appears to be taking on fewer projects related to Star Wars. He’s been very busy since first playing the Mandalorian in 2019, and some believe he might reduce his involvement in the franchise to focus on other opportunities.
The upcoming movie, The Mandalorian & Grogu, follows Din Djarin and Grogu as they’re asked by the New Republic to investigate a mysterious Imperial leader who remains active after the Empire’s defeat. Directed by Jon Favreau, this is the first Star Wars film in over six years and will be released in theaters on May 22, 2026.
Pascal is back as the lead character in the film, and he’ll be acting alongside Jeremy Allen-White, Sigourney Weaver, and Jonny Coyne. You can find more details about the cast of Mandalorian & Grogu here.
Will Din Djarin Die in The Mandalorian & Grogu?

It’s no surprise that the word ‘loss’ connected to the upcoming The Mandalorian & Grogu movie is getting people talking, but it doesn’t automatically mean Pedro Pascal’s character, Din Djarin, will die during their journey.
There’s been a lot of fan speculation that Pascal might leave his role in Star Wars, but losing such a popular actor could be a big setback for the franchise.
Pedro Pascal and the lovable Grogu have been the heart of the show for the past five years. Lucasfilm should definitely give Pascal and Grogu a dedicated movie before considering ending the character’s story.
If The Mandalorian & Grogu becomes very popular, it could launch a brand new series of stories within the larger Star Wars universe.
As a huge fan, I was really worried when Pascal’s character was in danger! If Din Djarin had died, a sequel would be tough to pull off without its main star. Plus, I’ve heard the Mando movie is being planned as the first part of a whole trilogy, so it just wouldn’t make sense to kill off the lead in the first theatrical release. It felt like a big signal that they weren’t going to go there.
The reference to ‘loss’ likely points to a more significant, underlying theme in the movie, possibly related to the emotional journey of either the character Pascal or his puppet sidekick.
