Marvel is once again performing well on Disney+, continuing its streak of successful streaming content. 2025 was an uneven year for the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Out of the three films released, only one – The Fantastic Four: First Steps – surpassed $500 million at the box office. Captain America: Brave New World earned $415 million, and Thunderbolts* brought in $382 million. While these numbers aren’t as high as Marvel’s biggest hits, they are more in line with the performance of its smaller-scale movies from Phases 4, 5, and now 6.
Streaming has been a strong suit for Marvel, with its movies and TV series often reaching the number one spot on platforms immediately after release. This is the case again with its newest show, Marvel Zombies, which FlixPatrol reports is now the most-watched series worldwide, surpassing Hulu’s Alien: Earth. Within the United States, it’s currently ranked #2 among all movies and TV shows, trailing only Pixar’s Elio.
What This Means For Marvel Zombies & The MCU

The positive start for Marvel Zombies is a good sign, especially since early reviews weren’t very enthusiastic. Currently, the series has a 66% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Critics have liked the animation and graphic violence, but feel the story and emotional impact are lacking. Viewers seem to be enjoying it more, giving it a 76% score on Rotten Tomatoes, and that positive reception is contributing to its initial success on streaming platforms.
Naturally, most Marvel shows on Disney+ are likely to reach the top spot. It remains the biggest draw for the service, aside from content aimed at younger viewers, and with limited competition, the new show’s success isn’t surprising. The key will be whether it can maintain that success over time, as several past MCU series, like Secret Invasion, Echo, and Ironheart, didn’t have a significant lasting impact. A second season of Marvel Zombies is expected given how the first season ended, but that depends on continued audience engagement. However, initial reactions are encouraging.
This success should reassure Marvel that they’re making the right choices with their animated series on Disney+. Disney is planning to slow down production of live-action shows, recognizing they expanded too quickly into streaming with both Marvel and Star Wars. However, the animated shows are different: fans can expect new seasons of X-Men ’97 and Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man to be released each year on the platform. While Marvel Zombies might not continue for many seasons, it would be unexpected if Season 2 didn’t move forward, as the show hasn’t failed immediately.
Marvel Zombies is available to watch on Disney+. Following that, the next television series in the Marvel Cinematic Universe will be Wonder Man, slated for release in December 2025.
