As a passionate gamer, I’ve been buzzing with anticipation about the chatter surrounding a potential Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 Direct. However, the speculation ends here! Nintendo has officially announced the date and duration of their upcoming Direct. Mark your calendars for September 12th, at 6:00 AM PT / 9:00 AM ET. What’s more, this Direct is set to be one of the longest ones yet, clocking in at approximately 60 minutes. Gear up, Nintendo enthusiasts, as this exciting hour will be packed with both confirmed and unannounced games for our beloved Nintendo Switch and its potential successor.
In the upcoming presentation, it’s confirmed that Switch 1 games will be showcased. If you’re still playing on previous-generation consoles, get ready as this might be the final Nintendo Direct focusing on games for this platform. As Nintendo continues to prioritize the Switch 2, support for the original Switch is expected to lessen. However, this presentation offers a unique opportunity to preview upcoming games slated for release this year and into 2026.

As a gaming enthusiast, I can’t help but feel the anticipation building for the upcoming Nintendo Direct. Among the many possibilities, I truly hope to catch a glimpse of Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, a game that has been eagerly awaited by fans for quite some time now. With the year 2025 coming to an end and no release date announced yet, I’m crossing my fingers that Nintendo will finally share the secret and unveil when we can embark on Samus’ next thrilling 3D adventure.
Fans are eagerly anticipating that a fresh installment of the Animal Crossing series could be announced during the Direct, as the previous game, Animal Crossing: New Horizons for the Nintendo Switch, was enormously successful. Although there was an update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons on the Nintendo Switch 2, it’s possible that a brand-new game in the series may also be unveiled since it has been more than five years since the last entry.
For the Nintendo Switch 2, it’s expected that additional exclusive first-party games like “Mario Kart World,” “Donkey Kong Bananza,” and soon-to-be-released “Kirby Air Riders” will be available. Additionally, there’s a strong possibility that third-party developers will bring games such as “Cyberpunk 2077” and “Star Wars Outlaws” to the console, with potential ports in the works.
On September 12th, we’re eagerly anticipating what Nintendo will unveil during their presentation. The atmosphere is buzzing with excitement as fans count down the hours until the highly anticipated Nintendo Direct. Fortunately, we have just two more days left to find out about their forthcoming game lineup.
