StarRupture Might Be the First Big Steam Hit of 2026
The term “survival game” now covers a wide range of experiences, from relaxing solo games like I Am Future to challenging multiplayer base-building games like Valheim. In StarRupture, survival focuses on establishing a base on a dynamic alien planet teeming with dangerous creatures. Players can play alone or with friends, building a sophisticated, automated industrial system to manage resources.
Similar to other base-building games, StarRupture focuses on gathering resources. You’ll go on risky adventures to collect materials to expand and automate your base. Whether you’re at home or exploring, you’ll fight dangerous monsters using fast-paced, first-person shooter combat. You can play alone or with up to three other players, and the game’s flexibility and cooperative gameplay are likely why it’s become so popular.
Games that let you play with friends often do well on Steam. When people enjoy playing together, they tell others, as we saw with games like PEAK in 2025. Even though some players are hesitant about buying games that are still in development (Early Access), it doesn’t seem to be a major problem. The team behind the survival game StarRupture is being open about their plans and has shared a detailed roadmap showing players what new features and content they can expect before the full game is released.
