This week, a fresh episode of PlayStation State of Play is scheduled, an event gamers won’t want to miss. Back in the day, we had grand showcase events, like E3, which provided a steady stream of gaming news for much of the year. Other announcements did pop up occasionally, especially during The Game Awards, but E3 was the main stage. Sadly, these large-scale events have dwindled and have been replaced by more frequent, scaled-down livestreams that keep us updated on games as they become ready for release.
Despite a few notable events such as Xbox’s summer showcases and Summer Game Fest persisting, it is undeniably not the same as what we were accustomed to, leaving some viewers slightly disappointed. Unlike before, PlayStation has shifted away from grand showcases unless they have a substantial amount of content to present, with these events usually taking place sporadically instead of during the traditional summer gaming season. The most recent one took place in May 2023, while the previous was in September 2021. This seems to suggest that there’s no clear pattern to their scheduling beyond when they are ready to reveal their content.
Ghost of Yotei State of Play Announced

As a gaming enthusiast, I’m always looking forward to PlayStation’s State of Play events. This week, Sony is hosting another one, but this time, it won’t unveil any fresh, unknown games. Instead, the focus will be solely on the upcoming release of Ghost of Yotei. Now, this game isn’t exactly a mystery, but we don’t have all the details yet. What we do know is that it’s a sequel to Ghost of Tsushima, set far beyond the events of the original game and featuring a new protagonist. The trailers and sneak peeks make it seem like it could be an exhilarating continuation of the beloved PS4 exclusive, and fans can hardly wait to get their hands on it!
On July 10th at 5PM ET, the “Status Update: Ghost of Yotei” will broadcast, offering a comprehensive 20-minute exploration of fresh weapons, customization choices, maps, unique game modes, and many other exciting aspects. This extensive preview is anticipated to satisfy fans eagerly waiting for this game’s release, providing them with plenty of engaging content. Historically, PlayStation has employed these in-depth previews to showcase some of its major exclusives, offering a closer look at future titles.
Ghost of Yotei will release on October 2nd, 2025 exclusively for PlayStation 5.
