New Pokemon TCG Destined Rivals Tins Sold Out Instantly (But You’ll Have Another Chance Soon)

In addition to the Eevee-themed Prismatic Evolutions, the Team Rocket Destined Rivals collection is among this year’s most sought-after releases in the Pokémon Trading Card Game. The Destined Rivals set has been hard to come by, but fans of Team Rocket have had another chance to grab it. The next series of Pokémon card tins will also carry a Team Rocket theme and will feature promo cards and boosters from Destined Rivals. These tins are already generating a lot of excitement.

On July 26th, Team Rocket tins for pre-order went live on Target’s website at sunrise. Similar to modern online launches of the Pokemon Trading Card Game (TCG), these items were snapped up rapidly. It’s worth noting that this was merely the initial round of pre-orders. The Destined Rivals Team Rocket Tins won’t hit shelves until September 5th, providing another opportunity for Pokemon card collectors to secure this latest release from the Destined Rivals series.

On July 26th, pre-orders were exclusively available at Target, but it’s important to note that the Team Rocket tins aren’t exclusive to Target. As of now, Best Buy and GameStop have announced they will also be stocking these tins, with availability starting on September 5th. So, mark your calendars, Pokémon TCG enthusiasts! If you’re considering braving the line at GameStop, here’s a look at what the Team Rocket tins contain.

What’s In the Pokemon TCG Team Rocket Tins

The themed Pokemon card tins titled “Destined Rivals” feature notorious Team Rocket Pokemon on their exterior. In total, there are three unique designs, each accompanied by a special “Destined Rivals” promo: Mewtwo, Persian, and Nidoking. All of these Pokemon have ties to the leader of Team Rocket, Giovanni.

Each tin contains a foil promotional card for either Mewtwo ex (Team Rocket), Nidoking ex (Team Rocket), or Persian ex (Team Rocket). Inside, you’ll discover 5 Pokémon Trading Card Game booster packs. The initial promo pictures suggest a combination of Destined Rivals and Journey Together booster packs within. Therefore, it isn’t a complete Destined Rivals collection, but you’ll get an opportunity to open a few packs from the set.

As a gamer excited about the new Team Rocket tins, I’ve checked out Best Buy and Target’s websites, and both are listing the set at $26.99. GameStop, however, hasn’t disclosed its price yet. Knowing their history of slightly marking up Pokémon TCG products, it seems plausible that the Team Rocket tins might retail for around $35.99 at GameStop. So, I’ll keep an eye on their site to see if they announce a price soon!

Over the next few weeks, other shops might start accepting pre-orders for the Team Rocket tins, similar to what Target did. If they don’t, you can attempt to get your hands on this latest release when the “Destined Rivals” tins become available on September 5th.
