New Power Rangers Costumes for Mystery 2025 Series Make 3 Great Changes (And the Reboot Should Take Notes)

There’s been a bit of a lull when it comes to Power Rangers news, but there might be good news on the horizon with reports suggesting a reboot series for Disney+ is in development by Hasbro. It’s not certain yet if this will happen, but aside from the potential reboot, another project has gained significant attention due to some new costumes. These new costumes include three notable changes that could potentially be incorporated into the reboot, as they look amazing.

The series under discussion is Ninja Kidz, a web series available on YouTube’s Ninja Kidz TV channel. It features a Power Rangers-style theme and first aired in 2017, releasing nine episodes over time, with the ninth episode premiering three years ago. Ever since then, fans have been eager for a proper conclusion, and now that wish is coming true. However, there’s an exciting twist – the Ranger costumes have undergone significant improvements since the last episode.

New Era, New Costumes

In the images provided, you’ll notice the suits appear quite striking, with designs credited to TokuJay and crafted by Parallel Life Studios. For comparison, take a look at the side-by-side with TokuJay’s initial design in the post. Although some details may have been altered, the new suits generally impress. As previously mentioned, there are three standout features that catch the eye, and since these elements are present in both the final costume design and the original concept, it would be exciting if they were included in the upcoming reboot suits, as they truly make an impact.

The helmet catches the eye first, retaining the same design and color scheme as the original helmets, but a notable change quickly becomes apparent to fans. This alteration lies in the decision to omit the lips from the silver part of the helmet, creating a modern twist that distinguishes it from the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers’ original suits. In my opinion, this modification gives the Rangers a more intimidating appearance right off the bat.

Across different periods, Power Rangers has made notable changes, and one element that’s altered is the helmets’ design, including versions without lips such as Power Rangers In Space, Mystic Force, Cosmic Fury, and others. Personally, I’ve always found a complete mask on the helmet more appealing compared to the original Mighty Morphin look. If there’s ever a reboot, I hope they maintain this style shift.

What really catches my eye is the prominently etched central diamond on the garment, which sets it apart in both the initial plan and the final product. Unlike being a plain color, this central diamond showcases an elevated replica of the Ranger’s power coin within it. This detail adds a significant amount of depth to one of the suit’s most recognized features. Although I find the silver tint of the concept design more appealing than the white shade of the live-action suit, both versions display an impressive design. I would be thrilled if they incorporate this distinctive aspect into future suits in some capacity.

The third essential aspect of my favorite suits that I appreciate is the collar, a stylish extra piece wrapping halfway around the neck. This design allows a glimpse of the traditional white inner layer, yet the added layer lends it an armored, contemporary superhero-like vibe, distinct from a turtleneck. Although this is a matter of personal preference, I believe this feature enhances the timeless appeal of suits, so let’s hope it becomes a part of future reboots.

Why Did the Original Design Change?

In truth, the live-action versions of the suits could have been more impressive if they had retained all the original design elements. However, TokuJay explains on Instagram that these changes were necessary because of the tight production schedule, requiring compromises and concessions.

On Instagram, TokuJay posted: “Many folks might have caught wind of it already, but for those who missed out… indeed, those are my designs for the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers suits – with a few adjustments here and there that I’ll address when possible – skillfully crafted into lifelike masterpieces by my pals at @parallellifestudios. This collaboration between Hasbro/Playmates and Ninja Kidz is official! In the days since leaked set photos, I must say, I have been both overwhelmed and deeply humbled by the response I’ve received. So far, it has been a wonderful, positive experience, and I couldn’t be happier that all the effort has proven worthwhile!

This time around, I’d like to address some speedy queries. No, the collar isn’t part of the package this round, and, regrettably, the gloves/boots aren’t fully colored either. As you may know, production processes can be quite dynamic, even more so in fast-paced environments such as this one. Occasionally, adjustments or modifications might need to be made. However, take a closer look at the intricate details! And if you keep going, you’ll catch a sneak peek into what’s coming up next…
