A recently announced remake of a PlayStation 2 game from 2001 has been unexpectedly delayed. While 2026 is shaping up to be a great year for updated versions of classic games, with several PlayStation titles like Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, Yakuza Kiwami 2, Dragon Quest VII Reimagined, and Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly Remake on the way, fans will have to wait a little longer for this particular remaster.
Koei Tecmo announced today that the release of their remastered version of Dynasty Warriors 3 has been delayed. The Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered, originally planned for March 19th, was intended to be an updated version of the classic PlayStation 2 game. While no new release date has been announced, Koei Tecmo explained that they want to make sure the game meets their quality standards, especially as it’s the first time they’ve remastered an older title in the series.
Producer Tomohiko Sho announced that the upcoming remaster of Dynasty Warriors will be delayed to allow for further improvements, ensuring the game meets fan expectations. A new release date will be shared soon, and the team thanks players for their understanding.
The Dynasty Warriors series first appeared on the PlayStation 1, but it really gained popularity on the PlayStation 2, which saw the release of five main games. Many fans consider Dynasty Warriors 3 to be a standout title, especially with its Xtreme Legends expansion. This new remastered version of DW3 includes that Xtreme Legends content, making it the most complete version of the game ever released.
We’re a little sad to hear that Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered is delayed past March, but the good news is it will eventually be available on more platforms than ever before! Players will be able to enjoy it on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
