New PS4 Game Announced for 2027 (When the PS6 Is Supposed to Release)

A newly announced PlayStation 4 game won’t be released until 2027, around the same time the PlayStation 6 is expected to launch. It’s common for big-budget video games to take a long time to develop, but it’s unusual for a PS4 game to be released so long after the console has been superseded by two newer versions.

Capcom has revealed that the latest Mega Man game, Mega Man: Dual Override, is scheduled to launch in 2027. It will be available on Nintendo Switch, the upcoming Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, PC via Steam, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. Interestingly, the 2027 release date puts it around the same time the PlayStation 6 is expected, though Sony hasn’t officially announced any details about their next console.

Mega Man: Dual Override Is Coming in 2027

The trailer for Mega Man: Dual Override shows a game that feels very much like past Mega Man titles. Players can expect the classic platforming gameplay – jumping, shooting while in the air, and all the other familiar features. The trailer doesn’t reveal much about the story, so it’s currently unknown what the game’s plot will be. However, based on how Capcom usually handles Mega Man games, it will likely continue the existing storyline while utilizing the power of modern consoles.

Lots of speculation is going around about the PS6, including which games might be available on it. Currently, Mega Man: Dual Override isn’t expected to be one of them, but that could easily change since the game was just announced.
