As a big fan of narrative games, I’m really excited about this new PS5 exclusive! It’s getting perfect ratings, but what really grabbed my attention is who made it. It’s by AdHoc Studio, the team that was originally working on The Wolf Among Us 2! And even better, a lot of the people at the studio used to work at Telltale Games – some of them even helped create the first Wolf Among Us and Tales From the Borderlands. You can totally see that same storytelling magic in their new game, and honestly, if you’re like me and have been eagerly waiting for The Wolf Among Us 2, this is definitely worth checking out.
So, I’ve been checking out this new game called Dispatch that just dropped on PS5 (unfortunately not PS4). It’s a really interesting mix – it’s a story-driven adventure, but you also manage things like a superhero dispatch center. And honestly, it pulls it off really well! It doesn’t have a Metacritic score yet, but the player reviews are amazing. It’s sitting at a 4.9 out of 5 on the PlayStation Store with almost 2,000 reviews, and on Steam it has an 87% approval rating from over 5,000 players. Definitely seems like a game worth looking into!
User Reviews
One player said they weren’t thrilled with how the game is released in episodes, but they’re really enjoying the story. Another reviewer compared it to a Telltale game, the strategy game This is the Police, and the over-the-top superhero action of Invincible, enthusiastically recommending it.
As one player pointed out, this game is being released in parts. Currently, only the first two episodes are available. Episodes three and four will be released on October 29th, episodes five and six on November 5th, and the final two episodes on November 12th. While there’s a risk the game’s quality could decline as more episodes are released, early feedback from PS5 players has been very positive. Our own review also gave the first two episodes high marks.
About the Game
In Dispatch, you take on the role of Robert Robertson, once the superhero Mecha Man. After his mech-suit is damaged in a fight with his enemy, he’s forced to work as a dispatcher at a center for heroes. However, the team he works with isn’t made up of typical heroes—they’re former supervillains. You’ll be responsible for sending them on missions, managing workplace dynamics, and secretly planning your revenge against the villain who caused your downfall.
If you’re interested, the PS5 game costs $40. However, it doesn’t offer any special improvements for those with a PS5 Pro.
