Get ready for a new Ratchet & Clank game! Insomniac Games, the team behind the popular series, is developing it, and it’s headed to mobile devices!
Sony recently revealed Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble, a mobile shooter available for free on both Android and iOS devices. It’s designed for multiplayer action.
Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble is a player-versus-player battle game created by Insomniac and Oh BiBi. Players compete against each other in simulated battles, all hosted by the ever-enthusiastic Captain Qwark.
The game features several ways to play, but the highlight, Total Rumble, is a team-based mode that feels like games such as Overwatch, but with the colorful art style and wacky weapons from Ratchet & Clank.
Plus, the game features Blast Ball, a mode very similar to Rocket League. Another mode, Bolt Rush, challenges players to gather the most bolts within a level.
Here’s the official blurb:
Get ready for more explosive action with the beloved heroes from Ratchet & Clank! This new game is a fast-paced arena shooter featuring incredible weapons and over-the-top battles.
Dive into the exciting world of Power Rangers like never before! This new game lets you team up with friends or play on your own in fast-paced, online multiplayer battles. Choose from a variety of classic Rangers, each with special powers, and experience all the action, humor, and energy you love. It’s coming soon as a free download!
If you’re interested, you can pre-register for the game via its official website.
Sony has been exploring mobile gaming for some time, and this seems to be one of their first major efforts to adapt their popular game franchises for mobile devices.
This seems like a fun game, but it’s quite different from the classic single-player platformer and shooter experiences fans enjoy. We’ll need to play it to see if it’s actually good. If we’re going to see more mobile games like this, hopefully they’re well-made.
