Get ready for a new alien invasion! Rebellion revealed their upcoming game, Alien Deathstorm, during the Xbox Partner Preview broadcast this Thursday, March 26th.
You might recognize the studio as the creators of games like Sniper Elite and Atomfall, but their new project is a departure from their previous work, offering a completely different feel.
Bridging the Gap Between Fast-Paced Action and Traditional Horror

Alien Deathstorm is a fast-paced, scary first-person shooter set in a sci-fi world. You’ll be thrown into a dangerous and ever-changing environment as you investigate a lost colony, cut off from Earth. Expect to face terrifying aliens and devastating storms as you uncover what happened.
Beyond just trying to stay alive, your goal is to uncover the mystery and save anyone you can. The first trailer is packed with intense action, showing off scary and challenging survival elements that are reminiscent of the game S.T.A.L.K.E.R., but set in space. You can watch it below.
In a recent interview with Xbox Wire, Ben Fisher, Head of Design at Rebellion, revealed more exciting details about their upcoming horror game. The team is creating a sci-fi world inspired by the 1980s, with a focus on older, analog technology and a gritty, industrial look to emphasize feelings of loneliness. Fans of Lovecraftian horror will also be pleased to hear the game will feature terrifying, otherworldly creatures.
Fisher described the game’s design as intentionally keeping players on edge. It will combine fast-paced action with slower, more cautious exploration. This creates a feeling of constant tension – quiet moments will feel more intense because you’ll always feel like you’re being watched, and those moments will be broken up by sudden, frightening encounters with enemies.
You’ll explore a distant colony that’s gone silent, discovering it’s now a dangerous place filled with terrifying threats – from massive, devastating storms to hostile alien creatures.
The design lead described their unique approach to the project, explaining, “We believe combining shooter and survival-horror elements is a relatively untapped area in gaming.” He added that they’re aiming for a fast-paced, action-packed experience that doesn’t sacrifice the suspense and fear typically found in survival-horror games, calling it a challenging but rewarding goal.
