Most people know Dungeons & Dragons as a fantasy role-playing game featuring magic, elves, and dwarves. While adventures can range from steampunk to horror, the game usually stays within a traditional fantasy setting. However, a new expansion called Neon Odyssey is taking players to a place rarely seen in D&D: outer space. Created by Avantris Entertainment, the team behind the popular Crooked Moon supplement, Neon Odyssey promises to be their most ambitious project yet.
Avantris Entertainment has unveiled Neon Odyssey, a new expansion for Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition set in space. Similar to their previous adventure, The Crooked Moon, it will launch on Kickstarter. Early signs suggest Neon Odyssey could be even more successful than The Crooked Moon in terms of funding. Described as a blend of Star Wars and Cowboy Bebop with a vibrant synthwave aesthetic, this sci-fi setting promises a fresh experience for D&D players.
Neon Odyssey Sci-Fi D&D 5e Supplement Heads to Kickstarter This May
This trailer immediately caught my attention with its futuristic look and, let’s be honest, a robot pug! But beyond the cute cyborg dog, Neon Odyssey is a really exciting and large-scale project that Dungeons & Dragons fans should enjoy. It’s Avantris Entertainment’s most ambitious work yet, consisting of three books totaling over 1,400 pages. The supplement provides everything D&D 5e players need for dramatic, story-focused adventures with plenty of action.
The creators of Neon Odyssey designed this exciting new sci-fi adventure for both experienced Dungeons & Dragons players and those new to the game. The trailer shows the adventure draws inspiration from classic sci-fi films, old-school video games, and the popular culture of the 80s and 90s. It will launch on Kickstarter in May, giving fans the opportunity to support the project, receive a copy early, and enjoy the usual rewards offered in crowdfunding campaigns.

Neon Odyssey is a new tabletop role-playing game set in the Stardust Rhapsody, a sprawling sci-fi galaxy. Players take on the roles of bounty hunters completing jobs across the stars. The game launches with three core books: the Outrunner’s Handbook (character guide), the Cosmic Codex (setting guide), and the Overdrive Expansion, which adds new systems like ship upgrades and racing. It uses a modified version of the D&D 5e ruleset, adapting familiar classes to fit the sci-fi world and introducing a unique Machinist class focused on technomancy. Players will encounter over 300 alien creatures, engage in space battles, and explore a vast and exciting galaxy.
Avantris Entertainment is gearing up for the May Kickstarter launch of Neon Odyssey with a new series of weekly videos. If you’re interested in learning more about the game and what the supplement offers before backing it, be sure to check out the Avantris Entertainment YouTube channel for detailed looks at the game’s rules, character choices, and the Stardust Rhapsody setting. You can find additional information about Neon Odyssey and sign up for VIP updates on the game’s official website.
