New Silent Hill Game Could Continue Silent Hill f’s Most Divisive Choice

The next Silent Hill game might continue the trend started by Silent Hill f of moving away from the series’ traditional setting. Silent Hill f shifted the story from the familiar town of Silent Hill in the US to 1960s Japan, a change that initially worried some fans. Though the move was ultimately well-received, many still hoped a future game would return to the original location. However, according to a key figure at Konami, a return to the classic Silent Hill setting seems unlikely.

Motoi Okamoto, producer of Silent Hill f, recently told Inverse that Konami is thinking about setting future games in different parts of the world. He specifically mentioned Russia, Italy, and South Korea as possibilities, noting that each country has distinct beliefs that could inspire compelling stories. Central and South America are also being considered, and Konami might collaborate with local partners in these regions to create the next Silent Hill game.

As a gamer, I’m really excited to hear that the team is thinking about expanding the game’s lore with influences from other cultures around the world. Okamoto-san mentioned they’re looking at things like shamanistic beliefs in Central and South America, which sounds awesome. But they’re not stopping there! They’re also considering Russia, Italy, and South Korea – basically, anywhere with really interesting and unique belief systems. He thinks exploring those different cultures will open up a ton of possibilities for new content and ideas, and honestly, I couldn’t agree more. It’s a great way to keep things fresh and engaging!

Silent Hill Will Still Be Seen in Other Ways

While future Silent Hill games might explore locations beyond the classic foggy town of Maine, we can still expect to see it featured in other forms. Bloober Team, the studio behind the Silent Hill 2 remake, is also working on a remake of the very first Silent Hill game. This new version will definitely include a refreshed take on the town itself, which longtime fans will appreciate.

In addition to the upcoming Silent Hill remake, Konami is collaborating with Annapurna Interactive on a new game called Silent Hill: Townfall. Currently, very little is known about Townfall, including its setting and release date. However, as it’s expected to be the next Silent Hill game to launch, we’ll likely get more details around 2026.
