With a new live-action show coming this Christmas Eve, the popular franchise has just released a trailer offering a first look at the upcoming performance.
The first trailer for the ice musical Solo Leveling On Ice is out, giving fans a preview of the show’s impressive visuals and figure skating. The trailer also introduces the cast in costume, including Jay (Kim Jinhwan) from the K-pop group iKON, who will play the main character, Sung Jinwoo. This is the first time the story of the Shadow Monarch is being adapted as an ice musical.
The upcoming musical aims to create the illusion of stepping into the world of Solo Leveling using impressive projection technology on an ice rink. It will be performed at the Mokdong Ice Ring in Seoul, South Korea, from December 24th to 31st, 2025.
Official Solo Leveling Ice Musical Reveals New Trailer
I recently learned about this new production, and it’s quite interesting! They’ve combined K-pop idols with actual professional athletes to pull off all the physical stunts in this action-packed musical. Alongside Jay, Kim Chae-yeon from the group Triple S will be playing Sung Jinah, the younger sister of the main character. The cast also includes Choi Woo-hyuk as Yoo Jinho, former figure skater Kim Yelim as the skilled huntress Cha Hae-in, and Lee Si-hyeong, a member of the national team, as the mysterious soldier Igris. It sounds like a really unique blend of talents!
Before the show officially launched, its social media accounts shared lots of behind-the-scenes clips and previews of the music. This included the song “The Heart Beats” sung by the show’s star, Jay, and “Gate of Chaos” performed by Ha Hyunwoo, the singer and guitarist from the band Guckkasten.
Besides the upcoming ice show, the popular series Solo Leveling is also being made into a live-action TV drama. Lee Hae-jun and Kim Byung-seo are directing, and Byeon Woo-seok, known for Lovely Runner, will star as Sung Jinwoo. Reports indicate Kang You-seok is likely to play Yoo Jinho, and Han So-hee is being considered for the role of Cha Hae-in.
The popularity of Solo Leveling exploded worldwide, largely thanks to its anime adaptation created by A-1 Pictures and Aniplex. Both the first and second seasons were incredibly successful, breaking Crunchyroll viewership records, even with some occasional delays.
The anime’s popularity quickly led to the creation of a video game, Solo Leveling: Arise, which benefited from the show’s success and earned around US$100 million in its first month. Despite the franchise doing well in both anime and gaming, fans are eagerly waiting for news about a third season.
