The movie industry has had its ups and downs in 2025, but it’s ending with some good news for fans of SpongeBob SquarePants! SpongeBob, Patrick, Plankton, Mr. Krabs, Sandy Cheeks, and the rest of the Bikini Bottom crew are returning to the big screen for the first time in five years. Paramount and Nickelodeon just released a wild and exciting trailer to build anticipation for the new movie, and you can watch it below.
SpongeBob and his friends are back in a new movie, The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants. The story follows SpongeBob as he goes on an adventure to find the legendary ghost pirate, The Flying Dutchman. While The Flying Dutchman seems scary at first, he might not be ready for the wild antics that SpongeBob is famous for, as shown in the movie trailer.
SpongeBob gets help from his friends, and together they’ll face some crazy challenges at Bikini Bottom High School. The movie looks great, and the characters are as funny and lovable as always! Luckily, we won’t have to wait much longer to see it in theaters.
Directed by Derek Drymon, The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants is written by Pam Brady and Matt Lieberman, based on a story by Marc Ceccarelli, Pam Brady, and Kaz. The movie brings back the original voice cast, including Tom Kenny, Clancy Brown, Rodger Bumpass, Carolyn Lawrence, Mr. Lawrence, and Bill Fagerbakke.
The movie will also star several well-known actors in significant roles, such as Mark Hamill as the Flying Dutchman. Ice Spice, George Lopez, Sherry Cola, Regina Hall, and Arturo Castro are also featured. You can find more details in the official description below.
