A highly-rated free game is currently available on Steam, and many are calling it one of the best freebies offered this year. However, claiming it is a little more involved than usual. Lenovo is giving the game away, but you need to create a free Lenovo account and watch at least two hours of a Lenovo Twitch stream between September 19th and 20th to get your game code. You can simply start the stream and let it run while you do other things – it’s not difficult, just a bit more effort than most free game promotions.
Steam players who complete this extra step will receive a great, full-priced game as a thank you. Usually, free games on Steam are smaller, older, or less well-known titles that you might not otherwise discover. But Lenovo is doing things differently by offering free copies of *Metal: Hellsinger*, a fast-paced, rhythm-based first-person shooter with a classic feel.
About the Game
Released in 2022 by The Outsiders and published by Funcom, *Metal: Hellsinger* received a respectable 79 on Metacritic. However, player reviews suggest the game is even better than that score indicates. On Steam, it has an “Overwhelmingly Positive” rating – the highest possible – based on feedback from over 7,530 users, with 96% of players recommending it. This positive reception aligns with our own review, where we gave the game a 9 out of 10.
The trailer for *Metal: Hellsinger* shows it takes inspiration from games like *DOOM* and *BPM: Bullets Per Minute*. What sets this first-person shooter apart is its focus on rhythm: shooting to the beat of the music is key to the gameplay. The more accurately you time your attacks to the music, the more intense the music becomes, and the more powerful your attacks will be.
You take on the role of The Unknown, a being with both human and demonic traits, driven by a desire for revenge. Your goal is to confront the Red Judge, but you’ll have to battle your way through the depths of hell to reach her.
We’d love to hear your thoughts! Feel free to leave a comment or join the discussion on the ComicBook Forum. And if this new free game on Steam isn’t for you, the Epic Games Store has two other options you might enjoy.
