The “Street Fighter” movie remains captivating with its star-studded cast, and the latest character added to the film brings another legendary figure into the mix. Over the past fortnight, the project has drawn from the wrestling world, with WWE’s Cody Rhodes and New Japan Pro-Wrestling’s Hirooki Goto both joining as significant characters for the franchise. Recently, the film has made a slight change in direction and recruited action star Vidyut Jammwal (from “Commando”) to the team. In this exciting project, he will be breathing life into a well-known character from “Street Fighter 2”.
According to Deadline’s report, it was announced that actor Jammwal is set to play Dhalsim in an upcoming film, further strengthening the movie’s star-studded cast. This marks Jammwal’s first foray into Hollywood, as he carefully chose this project to make his entrance into the U.S. market.
It’s been established that Street Fighter marks his US debut, but prior to this, Jammwal has built a strong international fanbase and an impressive acting resume. He’s starred in the Commando series (which includes Commando, Commando 2, and Commando 3), as well as Khuda Haafiz and Khuda Haafiz Chapter 2 – Agni Pariksha. Additionally, he’s acted in IB 71, Crakk: Jeetega… Toh Jiyegaa, and Sanak over the recent years.
For quite a while now, the character Dhalsim has been highly appreciated due to his distinct skill set. His extended limbs, which allow him to reach far distances, have always caused trouble for opponents. Additionally, when someone gets close, he can unleash a powerful fire-breathing attack. How this will translate onto the screen is yet unknown, but given the current roster, it seems we might witness an array of these exaggerated abilities in their full, chaotic, and larger-than-life splendor on the big screen.

We’ve got Callina Liang stepping into Chun-Li’s shoes, Andrew Koji taking on Ryu, Noah Centineo becoming Ken, Jason Momoa transforming into Blanka, Curtis 50 Cent Jackson bringing Balrog to life, Roman Reigns embodying Akuma, David Dastmalchian tackling M. Bison, Orville Peck sliding into Vega, Andrew Schulz bringing Dan to the arena, Eric Andre giving us his unique announcer style, Cody Rhodes taking on Guile, and Hirooki Goto as E. Honda. And to top it all off, we’ve got Vidyut Jammwal stepping up as Dhalsim! Can’t wait to see these characters in action!
Only a small number of characters from the original team haven’t been chosen for the movie yet, and it appears that Sagat and Cammy are most likely to be included now. However, if the film is successful at the box office, there are numerous other characters who might join in. Some potential additions include Sakura, Juri, Dee Jay, Crimson Violver, El Fuerte, R. Mika, Ibuki, and Rose. This list only scratches the surface of possible roster expansions for sequels.
